What is the Blue Screen of Death simulator?
This page is a recreation of a classic Windows Blue Screen of Death — the sad face, the familiar error message, the progress line and the stop code. It’s entirely cosmetic: nothing is crashing and nothing is logged.
How to use it
- Tap the screen (or the fullscreen icon) to make the BSOD fill the monitor.
- Double-tap or double-click anywhere to exit fullscreen.
Where people use a fake BSOD
Pranks
The original BSOD prank. Load it fullscreen on a friend’s machine and see how long it takes them to notice that their cursor still moves on yours.
Content creation
Video creators and streamers use a fake BSOD for cold opens, "my PC died" bits, and cybersecurity explainers. Works great overlaid on gameplay footage too.
IT training
Walk new techs through the structure of a BSOD without waiting for a real crash to demonstrate.
Film & stage productions
Need a laptop or monitor to show a system crash on camera? This screen photographs cleanly and matches a recognisable Windows install.
