What is the Hacker Typer?
Hacker Typer is a playful terminal emulator. You tap any key and the page types out snippets of realistic looking source code character by character. Nothing is evaluated, nothing is sent anywhere — it’s just a visual effect running in the browser.
How to use it
- Click inside the terminal, then mash the keyboard — any key types the next few characters.
- Adjust the Speed dropdown for a calmer or more frantic effect.
- Go Fullscreen to fill the monitor and sell the "I’m in" moment.
Why people use a hacker typer
Office & classroom pranks
Nothing convinces a friend you’ve been hacking for hours quite like a wall of green text on a black background, scrolling as you type.
Streaming & tech vlogs
Drop a hacker typer into an overlay or as a fullscreen intro. It’s a zero-effort backdrop for cybersecurity streams, CTF coverage, and tech explainers.
Film, stage, and demo days
Need a prop laptop that looks like someone is coding? Point it at this page. The effect looks good at any resolution and there’s nothing sensitive on screen.
Just for fun
It’s satisfying. Put on a playlist, open the terminal fullscreen, and pretend you’re the protagonist of a hacking movie for a minute. No one’s judging.
